Please allow me to introduce myself.  I am Jim Bowman and I have been a coin cutter for 25  years.  It began in Southern California when I needed money for rent.  A lot of coins have gone through their transformation from legal currency to a unique work of art since those early days.

When I moved to Florida in 1980, I found an outlet for my work near SeaWorld in Orlando at a place called Florida Festival.  From there my retailing partner moved to Disneyworld.  His shops were located in the Magic
Kingdom and Epcot.

Today I do all my cutting in my place of business in Berea, Kentucky.  My wife Debbie and I have Oh! Kentucky Campground & RV Park and Berea True Value Hardware.  It is a demanding career but I always find time for my love of coin cutting.  It not only relaxes me, but the satisfaction in creating a work of art for
the enjoyment of others is most gratifying.

Many  people question the legality of my craft.  Altering a coin is only illegal if you intend to use it for currency after the altering. Otherwise, it is completely legal.

SECTION 331, TITLE 18, U.S. CODE:  Prohibits among other things the fraudulent alteration and mutilation of United States and foreign coins.  This statute does not prohibit the mutilation of coins if done without fraudulent intent or if the mutilated coins are not  used fraudulently.
